A
rubber TY-UP is used to hold a cloth roll towel together
during washing and drying in conventional “wheel”
washers and dryers in industrial/commercial laundries.
It is similar to a very large rubber band with a “handle”
at one end to secure the rubber band in place after
it has been wrapped around the towel.
The
CRT is “flaked” (layered “fan fold”
style) in a bundle about 18” – 30”
long. The rubber TY-UP is used to hold this bundle together
so that it does not come apart during the washing/drying
process. The rubber band section is stretched around
the center of the bundle and one end is slipped over
the “T” end to secure it. One or two rubber
TY-UPs are used for each “flaked” bundle.
It is a matter of choice for the laundry operators to
determine the number of rubber TY-Ups used on a bundle.
Often shorter bundles use one and longer bundles use
two rubber TY-UPS (one at each end).
Some
laundries use two rubber TY-Ups per bundle regardless
of size when the rubber band section of the TY-UP starts
to get “old” and brittle. Using two helps
prevent the bundle from coming apart during processing
if an old TY-UP breaks.
