The paper is NOT torn off for use.

You just pull down on the paper in the “clean zone” and dry your hands. You only touch clean paper. You never touch any leavers, knobs, or buttons – only clean paper. The soiled portion of the paper is automatically wound up into a special area of the cabinet, separated from the clean toweling. When the end of the roll is reached, then the compact roll of soiled paper toweling is disposed of and fresh toweling is loaded into the dispenser cabinet.
